Football hosts College Night for players
For at least one afternoon, Pike, Avon and Ben Davis worked together in a football environment.
For the fourth straight year, the three schools combined to host College Night for their football programs.
“The purpose is to get our players college exposure,” coach Mike Kirschner said. “In Indiana we do not have spring football like the southern stats do so we have come up with ways to get our players in front of college coaches.”
Approximately 100 coaches attended the event Wednesday night at Giants Stadium. Kirschner estimated about 70 of his players worked out in front of them. The event started four years ago after Avon coach Mark Bless came up with the idea. The college coaches start the day at Pike, then go to Avon and end up at Ben Davis.
“Over 30 D1 schools were present,” Kirschner said.
