Students gather in C Hall to get breakfast. All Wayne Township students now receive a free breakfast thanks to a new national program.

Thanks to the child nutrition department Ben Davis is able to offer breakfast to every one of its students free of charge.

The Child Nutrition Department for the MSD of Wayne Township operates the Universal Free Breakfast program.  The Child Nutrition Department receives a breakfast reimbursement based on the category of meals served (paid, free and reduced rate).

“It is nice and convenient,”  sophomore Jesus Cuevas said. “It is a nice perk in the morning but it also helps if you get the food in the morning and save something to snack on later in the day.”

Studies have shown that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. This breakfast features fruit, juice, milk, pop tarts or a muffin. To help students, additional breakfast carts have been placed throughout school, including one if the Hall of Champions and one on the north side of the building in C hall.
