Most people think when social media is talked about that they want to talk about Instagram, Tik Tok, Snapchat, and even X (Twitter)

Well, those aren’t  the only social media apps that’s on the app stores.  Let me tell you about four social media apps that maybe people would be interested in.

Yope is a new app focusing on sharing photos, videos, and audio within private friend groups. Despite its 2.2 million monthly users and $4.65 million in funding, some users find it challenging to persuade friends to join, affecting its usability.

Pixel Fed is a decentralized, federated image sharing platform similar to instagram, built on the activitypub protocol. It emphasized user privacy and content control, offering an alternative to traditional centralized platforms.

BF Island is Buzzfeed’s upcoming social media platform focused on joy and creative expression, utilizing AI to assist users in creating and sharing content. It aims to offer a joyful alternative to existing social media feeds.

Last but not least is an app called Bluesky it developed from a research initiative within Twitter. Bluesky is a decentralized social network only on the AT Protocol. It aims to provide an integrated online experience with user-controlled data and moderation. These platforms offer diverse approaches to social networking, from privacy-focused communities to AI- enhances content creation reflecting the evolving landscape of social media. 

Some people wouldn’t even think about these types of social media platforms,  but it’s always good to try something new. Don’t be scared to get out and explore.
