Getting hot at the right time is often a theme for basketball coaches as the postseason nears.

The Ben Davis boys basketball team has won five of its last seven games, highlighted by last Friday’s 50-44 win over Cathedral, and now focuses its attention on Friday’s regular season finale against highly-regarded Tech.

After Friday’s game, the boys start sectional play March 4 at home against Northwest.

The boys beat Northwest 82-44 to open the season. The winner will go on to face Pike on March 7. Pike has a first-round bye.

Ben Davis is 10-7 heading into Friday’s regular season finale while Northwest is 4-11 with three games to play still this week.

Ben Davis is the host site of Class 4A Sectional 11. In the March 4 opener, Perry Meridian (11-7) tackles neighborhood rival Southport (13-5) with the winner playing Decatur Central (6-13) in the March 7 opener.

Pike (11-8) defeated Ben Davis 64-56 to open the season and beat the Giants 72-70 in overtime in last year’s sectional championship game. Pike has a four-game win streak going against Ben Davis.

Ben Davis is 3-1 this year against sectional opponents.
