Our Ben Davis Junior ROTC has always thrived in what they do ranging from winning State and Regional Championship titles on both teams.
Starting this year the program now has a third team to introduce to all cadets wanting more. Marine Instructor MSgt Eakathat Khanthasa has now brought cadets together to form a newly made Raiders team.
The Raiders team, much like the other teams, requires physical fitness but also the ability to tie a rope and use teamwork to overcome obstacles that challenge them.
“The team will create bonds among peers that will become inseparable,” MSgt Khanthasa said.
The use of “shared suffering” which is a concept of using physical punishment and with being around one another all the time helps reinforce the statement that bonds among cadets will be inseparable.
The Raiders team will compete in events that will require them to use rope knowledge and cooperation to zipline across a large gap of water, carry loads of equipment through tough climates, sprint as fast as they can, and climb a rope. Every cadet partaking will need to form a plan and execute it both fast and precisely in order to take first place. There are two different teams, one featuring only males competing and another featuring both males and females.
Alpha and Bravo Team with the support of Cadets 1stLt. Alletta Beasley, 2ndLt. Scott Smith, 2ndLt. Abdulrasheed Taofeek, SSgt. Princewill Agboalu, Sgt. Edwin Olguin, and Sgt. Jayden Simpson, leadership and guidance towards success will follow through and hopefully meet the program with another state and region champ title claiming, national championship winner, and most importantly family bonding team.
