Student athletes Camacho and West lead their teams

Seniors Daniel Camacho and Garrett West are leaders in their respective sports and also in the classroom. Camacho runs Cross Country as well as Track and Field. West previously played flag football and baseball.

¨It’s not just the sport. It´s the environment, closeness, and family.¨

¨It´s friendly and competitive. It makes you feel better when you get on the track.¨
Q: How would your peers, teammates, and coaches describe you?
¨Hard-working.¨
Q: What is your biggest accomplishment so far?
¨Academic all-state and breaking 5.¨

¨Captain for 2 years in cross country.¨

¨Parents, peers, and coaches.¨

¨Covid and discipline without friends¨

The cross country along with the track and field team of Ben Davis is full of active and intelligent young kids. It’s not easy to do a support that can be so unified but also very selective and competitive.

¨ Three-year starter, a leader, and a captain.¨

¨Parents and my brother because we push each other.¨
Q: How do you balance school and sports?
¨Managing time and blocking out distractions.¨
Q: Do you like the recognition that comes with being a great student-athlete?
¨It has its perks and I’m trying to be the best I can be.¨

¨Show that I gave full effort and worked hard.¨

¨It’s very time-consuming which means no social life.¨

¨Hard-working, quiet, leader by example.¨
Q: How do you make time for yourself when you’re stressed or overwhelmed?
¨Recovery, the hand with friends when I can, and have fun.¨
Q: What do you love about baseball?
¨The challenge of it. When I’m against the pitcher and it’s like a 1v1 against the pitcher.¨

Ben Davis is full of great student-athletes and it’s important to acknowledge how much strength and dedication it takes to become a three-year starter who is constantly leading the team.

It is important to honor and support our student-athletes whenever we can. Their hard work is very appreciated. Our Giants continue to stride toward success.
