Avery sizzles at the plate

LSU-Shreveport is now 44-3 after six wins last week. Zion Avery is batting .397 (50 for 126) with 13 doubles, nine home runs, and 59 RBIs.
MENS TRACK AND FIELD
Purdue-Fort Wayne’s Dona Fagnon won the 200 in a field of 12 at the Indiana State Open. He also was sixth of eight in the 60 hurdles (8:51).
Indianapolis’ Aaron Trejo placed 25th of 45 in the 1500 (4:21.86) at the Little State Meet. Trine’s Zach Brickler was 14th of 45 in the 5000 (16:00.08) and his teammate Yosef Solomon was 23rd of 45 in the 1500(4:20).
Competing at Rose-Hulman’s Friday Night Spikes, Hanover’s Jalen Simmons placed third of 13 in the pole vault (14 ¼); Rose-Hulman’s Tyler Speitel was 10th of 29 in the 1500 (4:23.22), and Rose-Hulman’s Caden McClure was 16th in the 1500 (4:28.65).
Indiana State’s Michael Adams placed 13th of 17th in the 100 (11:08) at the Gibson Invitational.
Indiana’s Dom Day was 10th in the long jump (23-11) at the Indiana Invitational.
WOMENS TRACK AND FIELD
Kentucky’s Simi Akinrinsola won the shot put (45-9-3/4) in a field of 18 at the Kentucky Invitational. She placed eighth of 25 in the hammer throw (152-10).
Indianapolis’ Mariah Judy was sixth of 45 in the 1500 (4:49.30) at the Little State Championships.
Rose-Hulman’s Dara Smith was eighth of 18 in the long jump (15) at her school’s Friday Night Spikes.
