Ball State (11-11, 6-5) lost 87-63 to Ohio University and won 93-83 against Toledo, which had been 10-1 in the MAC before this game. Jalen Windham led the Cardinals with 17 points (6 for 9, 5 for 7, 0 for 0) and had one rebound in 12 minutes in the loss; and had one rebound, one assist, and one three point shot missed in four minutes in the win.
Taylor (10-11) lost 81-73 to Mount Vernon Nazarene and defeated Bethel 95-90. Jeff Clayton had two points (1 for 1), four rebounds, one blocked shot, one steal, and two assists in 10 minutes in the loss; and six points (3 for 3, 0 for 0, 0 for 2), two rebounds, one blocked shot, and two assists in 17 minutes in the win.
St. Mary’s (10-8, 7-2) defeated Cameron 79-68, lost 100-98 to West Texas A & M, defeated Texas A & M International 58-51, and lost 74-55 to Texas A & M, Kingsville. Josh Brewer had 12 points (4 for 6, 2 for 3, 2 for 2), three rebounds, one blocked shot, one assist, and three turnovers in 17 minutes against Cameron; a team high 22 points (8 for 14, 4 for 6, 2 for 4) and four rebounds in 29 minutes against West Texas A & M; eight points (4 for 10, 0 for 2, 0 for 0), four rebounds, one assist, one blocked shot, and one turnover in 29 minutes against International; and six points (2 for 4, 0 for 1, 2 for 2), four rebounds, one assist, one blocked shot, and two turnovers in 22 minutes against Kingsville.
Illinois Central (8-11) lost 85-76 to Spoon River and 83-80 to Lincoln Land. Josh Shannon had two points (1 for 2) and two rebounds in 11 minutes against Spoon River; and three points (1 for 1, 1 for 1, 0 for 0) in five minutes against Lincoln Land.
Kankakee (13-9) lost 94-53 to South Suburban and 71-68 to Marshalltown. Jaylen Jennings had four rebounds, one assist, three turnovers, and three missed shots in 17 minutes against South Suburban; and played three minutes against Marshalltown.
MENS INDOOR TRACK AND FIELD
Trine’s Yosef Solomon placed 12th of 23 in the 3000 meters (9:27.24) at The Windy City Rumble at the University of Chicago.
Indiana State’s Michael Adams, competing at the Notre Dame Meyo Invitational, placed 29th of 34 in the 60 meter dash (7.23).
Grace’s Maurice Macklin, competing at the Indiana Wesleyan Midwest Classic, placed ninth of 27 in the 400 meters (53.22).
Franklin and Hanover took part in the Tim Hreha Memorial Invitational at DePauw. Hanover’s Jalen Simmons placed second of eight in the pole vault (12-6); and Franklin’s Corbin Lee was 20th of 22 in the 800 (2:26.20) and 21st of 22 in the mile (5:11.41).
BASEBALL
LSU-Shreveport (5-1) split two games with IU-Kokomo, winning the opener 6-0 and losing the nightcap 10-6. Zion Avery was hitless in two bats in game one and did not play in game two. He is batting .500 (4 for 8).
WOMENS BASKETBALL
Toledo (17-4, 11-1) defeated Miami 74-64 and Akron 73-70. Khera Goss had five points (2 for 6, 1 for 3, 0 for 0), three assists, and one turnover in 29 minutes against Miami; and five points (2 for 5, 1 for 4, 0 for 0), two rebounds, two assists, one steal, one blocked shot, and one turnover in 35 minutes against Akron.
Xavier (7-15, 2-11) lost 83-63 to St. John’s, 91-86 to Seton Hall, and 96-62 to St. John’s in a second game. Nia Clark had two points (1 for 9), two rebounds, two steals, one blocked shot, and one turnover in 29 minutes in the first loss to St.John’s, and she did not play in the next two games.
Lakeland (10-10) lost 70-49 to Wisconsin-Lutheran; defeated Concordia, Chicago 61-46; and lost 60-54 to Rockford. Brianna Jones had four points (2 for 3, 0 for 0, 0 for 1), three rebounds, and one turnover in 16 minutes against Wisconsin Lutheran; eight points and 13 rebounds against Concordia; and four points (1 for 6, 0 for 0, 2 for 4), a team high 11 rebounds, two blocked shots, and three turnovers in 26 minutes against Rockford.
