Sectional crown comes in historic fashion
November 8, 2017
On a night when senior quarterback Reese Taylor became the all-time leading passer in school history, the Ben Davis Giants survived a thrilling 36-29 win over Warren Central to claim the Class 6A Sectional 6 championship this past Friday.
That win sets up a regional showdown this Friday at Fishers (7 p.m. kickoff).
Taylor passed for 154 yards in the win over Warren Central to move into first place in school history with 7,037 career passing yards. His 31 passing touchdowns this season is a single season school record and his 69 career passing touchdowns also is a record.
Taylor connected with senior Kesean Tunstill on a 51-yard scoring drive late in the fourth quarter to give the Giants the seven point lead they would not surrender. Ben Davis trailed 22-15 at halftime but controlled most of the second half to improve to 11-0. It was their second win over Warren Central this season.
Ben Davis and Fishers have never met before in football. Ben Davis has been rated No. 1 all season while Fishers is 7-4 and is coming off a 28-7 sectional championship win over Pike.
