As the regular season of high school football wraps up, the Ben Davis Giants end on an amazing 8-1 record.
After facing a loss in week 4 against a nationally ranked team, IMG Acadmeny, the Giants went on to win 5 games in a row. One of Ben Davis’s key players, Nylan Brown had a lot to say about this season. After facing an injury to his back, he brought an interesting perspective to the rest of the season.
“The season was tough but it was definitely something special to be around,” Brown said. “We have a great postseason upon us.”
Heading into the first round of sectionals, the Giants are set to face off against the Brownsburg Bulldogs, in what is a rematch after last seasons first sectional game. This first round game is being highly talked about, as it is being seen as one of the top 10 games in the nation this week.
Brown says this game will “definitely send a message to 6A” as far as how good of a team the Giants are. Brown adds that playing the Bulldogs will “send a message to the entire Brownsburg coaching staff, and the entire high school that you never want to play us again.”
Depending on the different sports polls, these two teams are in the top 3 of the Class 6A state polls, making it a tough matchup for both sides. Experts are saying that whoever wins this game, could be a very high contender to be a state finalist. The Bulldogs won last years postseason matchup 48-20. The winner of tonight’s game faces either Avon or Pike next week.
