When you file your taxes it is sent to the IRS. The IRS stands for Internal Revenue Service. You have to do this procedure each year, starting in January.
This procedure is done each year to fund schools, roads, healthcare for the elderly, and any other public service. Teenagers aged 19 and under have to file taxes if they made $14,600 or more the previous year. Each kid’s situation is different. If you did not reach the $14,600 line you can still choose to file a return to receive a refund.
Each teen is responsible for their tax return and for paying any tax, penalties, or interest on returns. If the government owes you a tax refund it will be in your interest to file.
If you are interested in filing taxes as a dependent you must be under the age of 19, attending school full time, and lastly live with a parent for more than 50% of the year.
