Self Care Week is an annual national awareness week that focuses on self care for yourself and others; a week of nothing but self care days. National Self-Care Week is during the week of November 18-24. The theme for this year’s self care week is, “Mind and Body.” During this time it is encouraged to take time to focus on your mind and body to improve your well-being and help yourself heal and feel better.
Here are a few ways to practice self care:
- Treat yourself to a spa day;
A spa day could be a wonderful relaxing thing to help let you decompress and feel better, especially if you’re stressed or upset. You could take a nice hot shower or bath and use some products that smell good, shave, put on a face mask, some nice smelling lotion. You could do it alone or with a friend!
- Eating healthier;
As self care week comes up, think about the different things you could change about your diet. Over the week try to switch some things for better alternatives. For example, switching from a regular soda to a diet soda or zero sugar soda. Instead of having a large fry, get a medium or small instead.
- Getting enough sleep at night;
Getting enough sleep at night is crucial to your health and mental being overall. Sleep is one of the easiest and best ways to feel rested, better, and gain energy. Studies show the younger you are, the more sleep you need, but that doesn’t mean you should sleep any less than at least 7 or 8 hours a night. Try putting down your devices at least 1 hour before you go to bed to help yourself get tired.
