Wayne Learns is a day for all Wayne staff to engage in a course designed to improve their area of responsibility and/or improve personally.
Math teacher Katrina Miss Kelly is taking a course on how Algebra 1 (freshman course) reflects the questions on SAT which is now the state pathway for graduation. She is also in a course that engages in a deeper collaborative conversion day every school year is a time for staff to collaborate, socialize, and re-establish self-care.
“I like that classes are offered that help us improve,” Kelly said.
Wayne Learns is held each year on election day. That is why Wayne students are off on November 5 but all Wayne teachers and staff will report to the Ninth Grade Center for classes. This year the event is held primarily in the Ninth Grade Center due to construction at the high school.
“Wayne Learns always happens on Election Day since so many of our schools are used as voting sites,” superindent Jeff Butts said. “We bring our 2,300 staff members together for professional development, free flu shots, information about personal finance and health insurance, and an opportunity for colleagues to learn from each other. There will be over 200 sessions offered, most of which are led by our very own staff.”
