For the fourth straight year, a group of west side residents will adopt seniors from Ben Davis High School and Ben Davis University.

This “adoption” began with the Class of 2020 as a way to recognize a class that missed out on a prom, spring sports, and an in-eprson graduation.

The adoption process is simple, join the Facebook page (see photo), post a description about yourself and a few photos, and a community member from the west side will adopt you. The two of you then exchange messages and arrange a meeting, usually closer to graduation, when the senior will usually be presented with a gift basket.

The page was started by former BD parent Michelle Palmer Nuckols as a way for the community to show compassion for graduating seniors and a way to say thanks for your journey through Wayne Township schools. More than 700 seniors were adopted last school year.
