After Ben Davis defeated Lawrence North 41-8 last week, coach Mike Kirschner talked about things still to come.

“Experiences are great,” Kirschner said. “It is always easier when you win, but the moments that you cherish are the times on the field working to fulfill the goal of a championship.”

The Giants take their next step toward that goal Friday night when they host Carmel for homecoming. Ben Davis is 6-0, rated No. 1 in the state (fifth nationally) and leads the Metropolitan Interscholastic Conference with a 4-0 record. Carmel is No. 4 in the state and brings a 4-2 (3-1 in the MIC) record to Giants Stadium,

“Carmel is a great challenge,” Kirschner said. “They have won three straight, have a great defense and an excellent kicking game.”
