New Stars, Book 1 of The Magi’s Encounters, is a biblical fiction novel set during the time of Jesus’ birth. It portrays a conflict between two empires — the Roman Empire and the Parthian Empire. The Romans insisted on everyone worshiping their gods and did not tolerate belief in multiple religions, considering it a threat to their empire.
The main character, Akilah, is on a quest to find a star associated with an eternal king. “Search to see if there is such a thing as absolute truth.”
The book is written by Lana Christian, an author from Speedway, Indiana, specializing in business and creative writing.
“Books have always been a part of me,” Christian said.
During her youth, she spent a lot of her summertime reading books. Reading has always been something she has been interested in, and this interest helped her develop a passion for writing.
Christian recently appeared in Speedway for a book signing event. She was thrilled to return to her hometown for a book signing.
“I appreciated the fact that these people chose to come here today,” she said.
She was extremely thankful for everyone’s enthusiasm. People eagerly lined up to buy her book before the event even started, which surprised her. She was delighted to see the community’s interest in her book and felt that it reflected the supportive Hoosier culture.
“Once my book launches (September 24), I’ll be having more signings, probably not in Indiana because I live about 10 hours away. I’ll be having book signings more locally in my town.”
