Grace Ishikawa, senior
Q: What is band to you?
A: Everything, it’s what I do 24/7, involved with many different parts of band
Q: What else in the music department were/are you involved in?
A: Wind symphony, marching band, jazz band, winter percussion, pep band, alto and tenor sax
Q: What is your favorite type of music to play?
A: Slow and lyrical music also music that has good tone. Vibrato music.
Q: What is the best part about band?
A: The many opportunities to choose from. It also keeps your busy and helps you become more organized and able to manage your time.

Q: What is band to you?
A: Band is the reason I come to school and I love it so much and I look forward to it at the end of the day
Q: What else in the music department were/are you involved in?
A: Show band, jazz band, pep band, concert band.
Q: What is your favorite type of music to play?
A: I really like to play pep band; its uplifting and fun.
Q: What is the best part about band?
A: The people are the best part because they are so welcoming and nice. You can’t find people like the band geeks, and they make you feel better.
Amanda Bell, senior
Q: Why did you decide to become a drum major?
A: I decided to become a drum major because I knew it would be a challenging duty that would help me grow as a person and a leader.
Q: What does it mean to you to be a drum major?
A: It means that I have earned the trust of the directors and that I have shown what I’m able to do as a leader
Q: How long have you been in band?
A: I have been in band for about five years, going on my sixth this year.
Q: What kind of work did you do to become a drum major?
A: I had to march in the band for two years.
Q: What responsibilities do you have?
A: Knowing when to be serious and when to have fun, making sure everyone is on good terms, helping the directors, conducting, taking care of drama/ problems and keeping everyone focused.
Q: What do you hope to accomplish this year?
A: I hope to help section leaders and marchers understand that hard work will pay off if you continue to give your best effort. If we can do that, I hope we will make it to Grand National Finals.
Q: What do you plan on doing after high school?
A: I plan on going to IU to major in nursing, and I will go on from there to become a pediatrician.

A: Band is an escape from school. It is a place where everyone can come together and be in a family like environment.

A: I am/was involved in marching band, pep band, wind symphony, band and jazz band
Q: What is your favorite type of music to play?
A: I prefer classical arrangements.
Q: What is the best part about band?
A: The best part about band is being able to be around a group of people who treat you like family.
