Attention all creative minds
Actor Joseph Gordon Levitt has created a society dedicated solely to you
Joseph Leonard Gordon-Levitt, an American actor, director, screenwriter, producer and editor created an online collaborative production company called HitRecord.
He created it in favor of those who are innovative and imaginative. He wanted to make sure that any form of artist could take part, but before you submit your work you have to agree that users of the site can “edit” or “remix” your work.
The beginning of the process calls for writers, musicians, illustrators, photographers, video editors (artists of all kinds) to contribute their work to HitRecord. Once it is on the site, the HitRecord community collaboratively edits, builds upon, accentuates and remixes each other’s work to create songs, animation, short films, live shows, and music videos – anything you can think of.
And then came the production. Once collaborations develop at HitRecord they figure out ways to get our artwork out into the world. Since 2010, HitRecord has put out works of publishing and music, gone on tour and screened at festivals and now they have a brand new TV variety show on PIVOT.
Last, but not least, came the compensation. The point of HitRecord is not to make money. According to, http://www.hitrecord.org/, a man once said to Levitt that “we do not make movies to make money; we make money to make other movies” — and that is why he made HitRecord a for-profit company. If and when they are able to earn money from one of the HitRecord productions — books, live shows, vinyl records — they split the profits 50-50 with the artists who contributed.
So to all of you brilliant creators, contribute and your work just might be featured in one of their screened festivals or even on TV. Catch HitRecord on the PIVOT channel for some creative insight.
