Primus – Sailing The Seas Of Cheese
Released on May 14, 1991, this is the second album from the funk metal band, Primus.
Primus consists of three people. Those people are Les Claypool, Larry LaLonde and Tim Alexander. The most famous single from this album “Jerry Was A Race Car Driver” is probably the bands biggest song in general.
Other great songs from this album include, “American Life,” “Eleven” and “Tommy the Cat.” When you first listen to this album, you will probably think this band is really weird.
But that’s what I love so much about Primus — they don’t do the traditional song, they have lyrics that almost make absolutely no sense.
Out of all the songs, “Is It Luck?” is probably my favorite. The track before that, “Eleven,” just grooves so hard that it’s almost impossible to not nod your head.
If you want a slower track, “American Life” is a great one. It really shows off what Claypool can do with his bass. It’s the most unique bass playing I’ve heard. The same can be said about the track “Sgt. Baker” because of the bass. The bass probably has more importance than the guitar. It’s just different and I like it.
Overall, this album is probably the best album to go to if you’re interested in Primus. Just understand that it’s probably going to sound weird.
I’m David Newman. I am a hottie lamottie with a swimmers body. John Cena saved my life. I love pizza and friends and concerts with ten people at them....
