Owens will debut his Variety
Theatre director writes, directs latest performance
The summer musical Variety will play for the next two weekends in the Ben Davis theatre. This is an exciting addition to the ever expanding array of musical and plays offered both by our theatre department and the Wayne Township Community Theatre, who is sponsoring this production.
What makes the musical so exciting is that it is original play written by Ben Davis theatre teacher and director Kristopher Owens.
“Long but fun,” Owens said as he describes the journey producing and directing the play.
Despite some early setbaks, the musical is ready to roll. The original lead was forced to leave due to illness and several ensemble members and an important supporting character were hard to come by in the casting process. Despite these snags the musical will be on schedule and quite a feat indeed.
Owens hopes that the audience will take something from the production.
“We go through a Variety of things in life,” Owens said. “There are ups and downs in life. things will happen to you but you have to roll with it. That is what this production is about.”
