Caitlin Crouch is no stranger to Ben Davis.
A 2009 graduate of BD, Crouch returned to her roots seven years ago and has been a mainstay of the English department ever since.
Crouch has been teaching for nine years and teaches many classes such as English 10, literature masterpieces, and ethnic literature. If she could choose a favorite class she would choose English 10 because the “sophomores are brand new to Ben Davis.”
She attended IU Bloomington for her undergrad then to IUPUI for her master’s degree. She choose to become a teacher because she loves the freedom that they give her for teaching. She enjoys reading with students and doing art with poetry.
Throughout her life, she has taught at many schools such as Lawrence North School and Chapel Hill. Even though she has taught at those schools she is glad about the choice that she works at Ben Davis.
Throughout the schools she has taught she liked seeing how Ben Davis gives the “students freedom of being themselves” compared to other schools. Many teachers have influenced the reason why she became a teacher but one she thinks that she could relate to is Joe Tatum, her English teacher when she was a student.
“Mr. Tatum is reserved and quiet but cares for his students,” Crouch said.
In her free time, she reads books such as some of her favorites Pride and Prejudice, Harry Potter collection, and Demon Copperhead while hanging out with her two cats.
