In case you have not seen them yet, every classroom in the building will soon be equipped with new window covering on the hallway door.
“We are working on covering every window but there are some larger windows that are more difficult, but we are still working towards them,” Prinicpal Sandi Squire said of the new window coverings.
Squire said the idea was presented by several teachers.
“In the past, we had asked teachers to get large paper from the bookstore to cover the windows in a lockdown, but we realized that didn’t look as good and we needed something more consistent throughout the building,” Squire said. “Several teachers had this idea, and the admin agreed, but we had to wait until we could make it happen.”
In addition to the window coverings, Squire said she is always open to new safety ideas.
“We have been researching several new technologies in weapons detection,” Squire said. “Several of the technologies are very high tech and we are excited about their capabilities.”
Squire indicated the first semester lock-down drill is scheduled for November.
