This school year, our state lawmakers made it a law that students could not have their phones out during the school day.
I do understand why, but since we have to follow this law I’d like to suggest allowing a certain time of day where students can call home if necessary.
I also think this law should apply equally to teachers and staff in school. Some teachers sit on their phones and watch videos or text and no consequences for them, I get some of the teachers have kids at school and other reasons for their phones, but what about our reasons?
Maybe phones are distracting to us, but they are to everyone. Some teachers go by the rule “It wouldn’t be fair so I am going to put my phone up” but what about the ones who don’t?
The ones who sit on their phone instead of teaching us. But maybe in the administration or the government’s mind if they say something about the teacher’s phone they will quit and they can’t have that, right?
What about the students who dropped out or got kicked out of school? This might be my opinion but I think if we have to do something, teachers should also respect the new law. I do agree with the law because it helps us, but I don’t agree that it only applies to students.
