I think the 2024 cell phone policy is for the student’s good, although a lot of us students don’t agree with it.
At the end of the day, cell phone addiction is a problem. Everyone – not just teenagers – is addicted to the device. At school, the addiction takes away from our learning.
Personally, it has been a struggle keeping my phone away only because of the change from being able to have our phones out one year to not being able to have them out at all. It has been a big change for all of us, especially after summer break and having our phones 24/7.
I also feel that the number of times we have until we get kicked out is a little strict but we have to learn sooner or later. Another thing about the policy we can’t have the phones out from when the class begins until it ends, but I think if we have nothing to do or our work is done we should be able to have our phones out. Some teachers might disagree because it might give the students a different “out” for using their phone.
Other than some little things I feel could be changed I think the rule is reasonable for us students as long as it applies to the teachers. If we need to keep our phones put away so should the teachers.
By the end of this semester, we should check the stats from this year and last and see if anything with our grades has changed to see if the policy is helping us and our grades.
