Why hide your hidden talent when you can show everyone your intelligence?
Journalism teacher Tom is inviting all Ben Davis students to come to the first Open Mic of the year taking place in the theater. Don’t miss out on this opportunity.
Open Mic has been going on at Ben Davis since 2008. It all started when trying to figure out a way to promote artistic performances for students. Open Mic is a chance for Ben Davis students to perform on stage in front of a small audience, while having fun.
This happens at least two times each school year, so be on the lookout. The first one is Tuesday starting at 3:30 p.m. and ending at 5 p.m.
When you’re on stage you can perform anything. In the past years there has been dancing, singing, poetry, magic tricks, gospel choir, and more.
The audience for open mic is anyone who is interested in the arts. Come along if that’s you.
“We encourage students to perform what they want,” Hayes said. “It is a no judgement event, just a chance for students to perform.”
Hayes hopes by the end of this experience each student gains confidence. Most importantly that they know everyone is welcomed, not a judgemental event, and knows that they have support. Hayes hopes to see new faces this year on the first Open Mic of the year.
