What many people have heard if you have not already known, is that the social media TikTok is getting banned.
Or is it?
And Yes it is true , TikTok will be banned in the United States on January 19 , but all we know as for as right now is there is currently two Routes this could go in – the social media app decides to sell the app to an american company but TikTok has expressed their interest in not doing that or the ban never happens.
Just this morning the Supreme Court put a 270 delay in its decisions, meaning this will all become news again in the fall.
A ban would affect 170 million Americans ,(mind you that’s over 50% of americans) and it’ll affect
70 million americans since they use the tiktok shop (https://amzscout.net/blog/tiktok-shop-statistics)
The TikTok shop is a source of income for many Americans and for some it can be their only source of income , There are many creator’s who benefit from TikTok but due to the company that owns TikTok , ByteDance, ByteDance’s ties to China is a national security risk if user data is shared with the chinese government. That is the argument on why tiktok should be banned , but the other side of the argument is that there is no need to ban TikTok, and that tiktok shouldn’t be banned.
Why? Well because first it neglects and violates our 1st Amendment right , and we as American citizens have rights and those rights are protected.
This is a battle that is not even close to being over.
