Giants open with lots of questions
Boys tip off season at home tonight against Fishers
November 26, 2019
If you are attending tonight’s home boys basketball opener against Fishers, be sure to pick up a roster on the way into the gym.
Ben Davis, last year’s state runnerup in Class 4A, will sport almost an entire new roster from the team that walked out of Bankers Life Fieldhouse last March. Gone are two Indiana All-Stars in Jalen Windham and Dawand Jones and seven of the teams top eight players.
Tonight’s starting lineup will be a new look for coach Don Carlisle, a BD grad who is in his second year as head coach.
“We have a lot of questions,” Carlisle said. “I like the guys we have, but it will be a new look.”
Carlisle promises a more uptempo game and a team he thinks will get better as the season progresses. Senior Kai Steinman brings the most varsity experience to the team followed by senior guard Jamari London. The Giants also welcome senior guard Robert Fry, a transfer from Carmel, and senior center Jackson Gowdy, a transfer from North Central. Junior forward Trevor Nibbs also should see plenty of action.
