Fun in space

The Astronomy holds an event to introduce kids to science

Fun+in+space

Thursday night the first annual Space Day took place at Bridgeport Elementary.

The idea of Space Day is to introduce and show the fun in science to kids. Some of the activities at the event included making your own lip gloss out of petroleum jelly, Kool-Aid and glitter, experimenting with dry ice, physics phun , build your own model rocket , learn how to make your own paper airplane and a stargazing booth.

Members of the Astronomy society in Indiana and a NASA astronaut were also present as guest speakers. They were also present to answer questions and give advice to kids who may want to pursue a career in science. This event was organized by the Astronomy Club, which meets every Thursday to discuss anything from black holes to current events in the science world. Junior Shi Tuck organized the event.
