Minnesota  (9-5) defeated West Virginia 18-6. Ezezi Otomewo  started on the defensive line for the Gophers and had three solo tackles, two of them sacks, and one quarterback hurry.

Broc Thompson was named the most valuable player in the Music City Bowl after leading Purdue to a 48-45 win. The wide receiver caught seven passes for 217 yards and two touchdowns, including a 75 yard play; and he also had one solo tackle.

Ohio State (11-2) defeated Utah 48-45 in the Rose Bowl. Dawand Jones, who was named first team all Big Ten at right tackle, started on the offensive line for the Buckeyes.

WRESTLING

Thomas More’s Kailen Keith won two of three matches at 165 pounds by falls. After losing the first match 15-0 to Indiana Tech, he pinned an Ottawa opponent at 3:31 and a Midway wrestler at 1:16. Thomas More was defeated by Indiana Tech 38-10 and by Ottawa 33-12 before winning 30-24 against Midway.

WOMENS BASKETBALL

Lakeland (7-5) lost 68-51 to Concordia, Wisconsin. Brianna Jones played 34 minutes for Lakeland and had four points (2 for 5, 0 for 0, 0 for 2), six rebounds, two assists, three steals, and three turnovers.

Vincennes (11-6) lost 76-59 to Moberly Community College. Charelle Newson had 14 points (5 for 8, 4 for 6 , 0 for 0), two rebounds, one assist, one steal, and three turnovers for Vincennes.

Toledo (10-3) defeated Kent State 69-60,  Akron 64-58, Eastern Michigan 64-48, and Western Michigan 76-67. Khera Goss played 33 minutes against Kent St. and had 10 points (4 for 8, 1 for 3,1 for 2) and three rebounds. She had six points (2 for 7 , 2 for 5, 0 for 0), five rebounds, two assists, one steal, and three turnovers in 37 minutes against Akron; 11 points (3 for 6, 1 for 3, 4 for 4), two rebounds, three assists, two steals, one blocked shot, and three turnovers in 35 minutes against EMU; and 11 points (3 for 5, 1 for 1, 4 for 4), four rebounds, and one turnover in 23 minutes against WMU.

MENS BASKETBALL

 Taylor (6-11) lost 75-62 to Keiser, 75-66 to Bethel, and 79-74 to Grace. Jeff Clayton had two points (1 for 3), five rebounds, one blocked shot, two assists, and one turnover in 23 minutes against Keiser; three points (1 for 2, 0 for 0, 1 for 2), six rebounds, two steals, one assist, and one turnover in 24 minutes against Bethel; and three rebounds, one blocked shot, one steal, one assist, and two turnovers in 12 minutes against Grace.

St. Leo (5-8) lost 97-88 to Palm Beach, 98-84 to Barry, and 88-80 to Tampa.

Rob Fry had eight points (4 for 9, 0 for 1, 0 for 0), one rebound, three assists, and two turnovers in 20 minutes against Palm Beach; two points (1 for 7, 0 for 1, 0 for 0), two assists, and one turnover in 18 minutes against Barry; and 19 points (6 for 15, 1 for , 6 for 6), three rebounds, one assist, three steals, and one turnover in 33 minutes against Tampa.

Jalen Windham played briefly for Ball State (7-7) in a 75-55 defeat of Easter Illinois.

Illinois Central (7-6) lost 93-49 to Florida Southwestern State and 72-61 to Miami Dade. Josh Shannon  had four points ( 2 for 3, 0 for 1, 0 for 0), one rebound, one steal, and two turnovers against Florida Southwestern State; and  two points (1 for 3)  and one turnover against Miami Dade.

Wabash Valley (9-5) defeated Volunteer State 86-78 and the Greenville JVs 101-60. Jackson Gowdy had eight points (3 for 5, 0 for 2, 2 for 2), two rebounds, and one assist against Volunteer State; and nine points (3 for 4, 3 for 3, 0 for 2), four rebounds, two assists, and two blocked shots against Greenville.

St. Mary’s (4-7) lost 78-66 to Texas A and M-Kingsville and 82-71 to Dallas Baptist, and defeated Ecclesia College 103-45 and Midwestern State 59-55. Josh Brewer had five points, (2 for 9, 1 for 3, 0 for 0), three rebounds, one assist, and one turnover in 18 minutes against Kingsville; a team high 17 points (6 for 8, 2 for 3, 3 for 3), four rebounds, three assists, one steal, and two turnovers in 20 minutes against Ecclesia; eight points (4 for 6 ), three rebounds, two assists, one steal, and two turnovers in 21 minutes against Dallas Baptist; and four points (2 for 9, 0 for 3,0 for 1), seven rebounds, and one assist in 24 minutes against Midwestern.
