Goss helps Toledo go 1-1

Toledo (3-2) defeated Idaho State 79-58 and lost 68-63 to Seton Hall in overtime. Khera Goss had three points (1 for 3, 0 for 1, 1 for 1), three rebounds, three assists, two steals, and two turnovers in 32 minutes in the win; and two points (1 for 6, 0 for 1,  0 for 0), two rebounds, and one assist in 38 minutes in the loss.

Xavier (3-3) defeated Wright State 62-47 and Eastern Kentucky 73-60. Nia Clark had six points (3 for 8, 0 for 1, 0 for 0), three rebounds, three assists, two steals, and two turnovers in 29 minutes against Wright State; and 22 points (9 for 16, 0 for 5, 4 for 4), three rebounds, four assists, three steals, one blocked shot, and eight turnovers in 38 minutes against Eastern Kentucky.

Lakeland (3-3) lost 57-50 to Wisconsin-Stevens Point and won 55-51 against Lawrence.  Briana Jones had seven rebounds, two assists, one blocked shot, two steals, and six missed shots in 26 minutes against Stevens Point; and eight points (3 for 10, 0 for 3, 2 for 3), five rebounds, two assists, two steals, and one turnover in 24 minutes against Lawrence.

MENS BASKETBALL

St. Leo (3-3, 0-1) defeated St. Edwards 77-67 and lost 68-67 to Grand Valley State. Rob Fry had eight points (2 for 5, 0 for 0, 4 for 4), one rebound, one steal, and one turnover in 19 minutes before fouling out against St. Edwards; and eight points (4 for 8, 0 for 1, 0 for 0), five rebounds, one assist, and one blocked shot in 24 minutes against Grand Valley.

Jeff Clayton had six points (3 for 5), six rebounds, and one steal in 22 minutes for Taylor (4-5, 2-0) in a 77-59 win against Goshen.

Josh Shannon had six points (3 for 3, 0 for 0, 0 for 1)  and one rebound in 11 minutes for Illinois Central CC (5-2) in a 72-66 defeat of Kirkwood CC.

Jaylen Jennings had two points (0 for 2, 0 for 1, 2 for 2), three rebounds, two assists, one blocked shot, and one turnover in 15 minutes for Kankakee CC (6-2) in an 85-82 loss to Illinois Valley CC.

Jalen Windham had eight points (2 for 6, 0 for 3, 4 for 6), one rebound, and one assist in 19 minutes for Ball State (3-3) in a 97-75 win against Indiana State.

FOOTBALL

Purdue (8-4, 6-3) defeated Indiana (2-10, 0-9) 44-7. Elijah Ball and Broc Thompson saw action for the Boilers, and Reese Taylor had three solo tackles for the Hoosiers.

Minnesota (8-4, 6-3) defeated Wisconsin 23-13. Esezi Otomewo started on the defensive line for the Gophers and had two solo tackles and assisted on another.

Dawand Jones played for Ohio State (10-2, 8-1) in a 42-27 loss to Michigan.

Delbert Mimms saw action for North Carolina State (9-3, 6-2) in a 34-30 win against North Carolina.

Daylan Carnell had one solo tackle for Missouri (6-6, 3-5) in a 34-17 loss to Arkansas.

Marian (9-3) lost 25-20 to Northwestern College, Iowa in the quarterfinals of the NAIA National Championship Tournament. Trent Gipson returned a kickoff 41 yards for Marian; and Sir’ Zion Dance had five solo tackles-two for losses-and one assisted tackle
