Avery shines at Parkland

Parkland C.C.  (29-12) lost twice to No. 4 Lincoln Land. Zion Avery had two hits, including one home run, two RBIs, and four runs scored in seven at bats in the two games and is hitting .354 (29 for 82) with eight home runs.

Central Methodist (42-6) defeated Benedictine and split two games with Mid American Nazarene. Isaiah Davis pinch ran for CMU in each game and scored one run.

MENS SOCCER

 Marian (4-11-3) lost 6-0 to Rio Grande, defeated DePauw 1-0, and tied the Tigers 1-1. Jalen Rice started for Marian in two of the games and played in all three. He had an assist on the Knights’ lone goal in the tie with DePauw and took eight shots, four on goal, in the three matches.

MENS OUTDOOR TRACK AND FIELD

Rose-Hulman and Indiana State participated in the Pacesetter Sports Invitational at Indiana State. Rose-Hulman’s Noah Thomas placed 10th of 26 in the 100 meters dash (11.19) and 14th of 30 in the 200 (22.35). The Sycamores’ Mike Adams placed fourth of 26 in the 100 (10.79) and 19th of 30 in the 200 (22.74).

Wabash’s Isaiah Campbell, competing at the North Coast Athletic Conference Championships, placed third of 16 in the shot put (46 3/5), third of 16 in the discus (140-0), third of 15 in the hammer (149-2), and 13th of 15 in the javelin (107-10).

Trine’s Zach Brickler placed 14th of 23 in the 1500 (4:22.11) at the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Championships.

Grace’s Maurice Macklin placed 11th of 37 in the 800 (1:58.13) and was a member of the second place 4 X 800 relay team (7:42.30) at the Crossroads League Championships.
