Week ending May 12

SOFTBALL

Eastern Illinois’ Kayla Bear was one of three outfielders selected to the All Ohio Valley Conference first team. The junior started all 56 games for the Panthers (36-20) and hit .354 (70 for 198). In the conference tournament,  she had five hits in 14 at bats with five RBIs, three runs scored, and two stolen bases to end the season.

WOMENS OUTDOOR TRACK AND FIELD

Arizona State’s Alethia Marrero placed second of 30 in the 800 (2:03.08) at the Pacific 12 Championships.

Iowa’s Kyara Avant finished 16th of 27 in the 100 meter dash (11.85) and 17th of 31 in the 200 (24.40) at the Big Ten Championships.

Ball State’s Maritza Rodriguez, running at the Mid-American Conference Championships, was 17th of 20 in the 5000 meters (17:26.88) and 19th of 23 in the 10,000 (37:47.74).

MENS OUTDOOR TRACK AND FIELD

 Purdue’s Jalil Brewer  was fifth of 20 in the shot put (63-2 ¼) at the Big Ten Championships.

Franklin’s Nathan Adams was fourth of 21 in the hammer throw (175 feet) at the Doctor Keeler Meet at North Central College, Naperville, Illinois. At the same meet, Indianapolis’ Jordan Boyd was 15th of 25 in the high jump (6-3 ¼).

Indiana Tech’s Maurice Macklin was 10th of 15 in the 800 meters (1:58.54) at the Hillsdale College Last Chance Meet.

Illinois Sate’s Jordan Wilkerson placed fourth of eight in the decathlon at the Missouri Valley Conference Championships with 6623 points. He was first in the 100 meters (10.90), second in the 200 (50.51), second in the long jump (22-0 ¼), fourth in the pole vault (13-2 ½), fourth in the 1500 (4:58.57), fifth in the 110 hurdles (16.10), first in the high jump (6-4 ½), fourth in the shot put (36-0 ¼), sixth in the discus (101-5 ½), and fifth in the javelin (146-6 ¼). In the regular javelin competition, he was ninth of 20 (157-10).

BASEBALL

Isaiah Davis is hitting .210 in 31 games (17 for 81)  for Vincennes (19-28).
