MENS OUTDOOR TRACK AND FIELD

Competing at the LSU-Battle of the Bayou, Purdue’s Jalil Brewer won the shot put event with the second best mark ever by a Purdue freshman, 63 feet. He participated in a special event limited to the five premier shot putters. 31 other competitors participated in the regular shot put competition, with the winner about four feet short of Brewer’s toss.

Franklin’s Nate Adams won the hammer throw event in a field of 22 competitors at the DePauw Outdoor Invitational with a toss of 179.5 feet. He was fifteenth of 21 in the shot put (38-6 ¾). DePauw’s Demarco Henry was sixth of 23 in the discus event (138-1).

Competing for the host school at Marian’s Knight Open, Jordan Boyd was fifth in the shot put (48-7 ¾) and sixth in the hammer throw (166-5 ½). Aaron Murray was fifth of 21 in the 400 meters (52.60),  sixth of 43 in the 200 (23.86), and a member of the second place 4 X 400 meter relay team. DeAndre Bluitt cleared 6-0 ¾ in the high jump.

Southern Indiana’s Quartey Kirk had times of 12.27 in the 100 meter dash and 25.50 in the 200 at the Kentucky Wesleyan Invitational.

Illinois State’s Jordan Wilkerson placed sixth of seven in the high jump at the Illinois State Redbird Invitational (6’5”).

WOMENS OUTDOOR TRACK AND FIELD

Iowa’s Kyara Avant, competing at LSU’s Battle of the Bayou, was 11th of 20 in the 200 (24.35) and 10th of 12 in the 100 (12.01).

Southern Indiana’s Ralen Campbell finished second of 11 in the 200 meter dash (27.74) and third of eight in the long jump (15-6 ¼) at the Kentucky Wesleyan Invitational.

Competing for the host school at Arizona State’s Sun Angel Clsassic, Alethia Marrero put herself in the top 20 of the region in an event for the second meet in the row  with a time of 53.8 in the 400 meters. She leads the region and the Pac 12 in the 800 meters with a time of 2:05.33.. The redshirt senior also was a member of the 4 X 400 meter relay team which finished fourth of eight with the Sun Devil’s best time of the season.

MENS GOLF

Franklin finished first of six school at the Hanover Invitational. Robert Turner was fourth for the Grizzlies and 13th of 49 overall with scores of 82-77-159.

MENS TENNIS

Ian Dieters lost 8-3 at No. 1 doubles, and his singles match was not finished in 13-7 Marian’s  5-2 win against Olivet Nazarene.

Trine (5-9) defeated Albion 9-0 and lost 9-0 to Kalamazoo and 6-3 to Calvin. Bryce Hernly, playing No. 6 singles, won 6-1, 6-1 against Albion and 6-4, 2-6. 10-4 against Calvin; and lost 6-2, 6-1 to Kalamazoo.

Manchester’s Garrett Bear lost 6-4, 6-2 at No. 6 singles in  the Spartans’ 8-1 loss to Bethel
