Alana Burrell is a senior star on the Ben Davis volleyball star.  She is as student athlete who has to juggle the complications of going to school and doing a sport.

“It can be stressful at times to juggle school, extracurriculars, and volleyball but it’s doable. You have to be willing to sacrifice your wants for your needs,” Burrell said.

Burrell has been playing both school and club volleyball since she was in seventh grade. She makes sacrifices in order to be at her best. For instance, she may want to go to a Friday night football game or go out shopping with friends, but then she has to think “Wait do I have practice in the morning?” or maybe “ Do I have a tournament?”

Being on a varsity team she can’t be selfish. It’s not about her anymore, it’s about them.

Every athlete has an unforgettable season. Burrell’s happens to be her junior year.

“My favorite year would have to be my junior year, so last year. I really built lifelong friendships with the seniors last year, we all bonded in a way that was unexplainable,” Burrell said.

Throughout the many years we have had fantastic senior leaders such as Burrell and that is something that will go on for year and years. That is what makes Ben Davis an amazing school for everyone to look up to.
