Winter Winds claim state

The Ben Davis Winter Winds features 17 of the finest musicians the school has to offer.

Saturday night at Avon High School, the Giants proved to be the best in the state, winning the Scholastic A state title with 83.45 points, four points better than second place Lake Central. The group is directed by assistant band director Patrick Van Arsdale. It is the first year Ben Davis has participated in Winter Winds.

“Their performance Saturday night was very special,” Van Arsdale said.

Ben Davis performed an upbeat show titled “Open Sesame.”

In other competition this past weekend, the Ben Davis color guard received a gold rating at Decatur Central and will compete in the state finals this Saturday at 6:39 p.m. at Center Grove. Winter percussion finished fourth in state preliminaries and will compete in the state finals April 2 in Terre Haute.
