Kirschner returns to Warren Central

Former Ben Davis state champion winning football coach Mike Kirschner is going home.

Kirschner, who guided the Giants to state titles in 2014 and 2017 today was named the new football coach at Warren Central, where he graduated from in 1979.

“I always knew I wanted to coach here,” Kirschner said in a video posted on the Warren Central twitter account.

Kirschner left Ben Davis following the 2017-18 school year and has spent the past three years at Mount Vernon High School on the northeast side of Indianapolis. He is highly regarded as one of the top motivators in high school coaching and coached at Ben Davis for 11 seasons, taking over in 2007 when current Indiana University football coach Tom Allen left for Wabash College.

Kirschner left Ben Davis after leading the Giants to a 14-0 season and the schools eight state championship in 2017. That team is regarded as one of the top teams in state history. Ben Davis is scheduled to host Warren Central on Sept. 17, 2021.
