Hundreds of seniors from Ben Davis High School and Ben Davis University High School got to don their caps and gowns a little early today.

Those seniors took part in the annual “Wayne Walks” tradition, allowing them to return to the elementary and middle schools they attended to parade through the hallways, receiving high-fives and applause from their younger peers.

“’Wayne Walks’ is a great opportunity for our senior students to come back to say ‘thank you’ to the elementary and middle schools that set them up for success,” says MSD Wayne Superintendent Jeff Butts. “And it helps our younger students see what they will one day get to experience: the thrill of wearing a cap and gown for graduation day.”

Ben Davis High School’s commencement ceremony is scheduled for Friday, May 31. Ben Davis University High School’s graduation takes place Saturday, June 1. Evening of Excellence for senior awards is Thursday, May 23.
