Giants open boys basketball county tourney tonight at home

The boys basketball team and wrestling kick off the second semester of Ben Davis sports with home events tonight.

The basketball team opens the Marion County tournament tonight by hosting Decatur Central at 7 p.m. while the wrestling team hosts Avon at 6 p.m. Should the basketball team win tonight, they will travel to the winner of tonight’s Park Tudor vs Franklin Central game tomorrow night.

The basketball team is ranked No. 5 in the Class 4A state poll with a 9-2 record. They won games over winter break against Lawrence Central, Brebeuf, Fishers and North Central (pictures from that game included here).

In other action, this week, the boys and girls swim teams host a meet Thursday night and then hosts Senior Night festivities on Saturday. Wrestling also has a home meet Thursday.

Also on Saturday, the girls basketball team hosts No. 3 Pike at 1:30 p.m. The girls beat No. 1 North Central last week and currently hold the Queen of the County travelling trophy. The boys won the King of the County trophy by beating North Central on Friday.

The boys and girls bowling teams participate in sectionals this Saturday. The boys team enters the state tournament ranked No. 3 in the state.
