In this generation now, technology is everywhere. We use phones, computers, and tablets almost every day. It helps us stay connected with others, learn new things, and even have fun.
But sometimes I wonder – does all this technology actually make us feel more alone?
Technology lets us talk to people who are far away. We can text our friends, video call our loved ones, and post on social media to share our daily lives.
But I feel like, even though we are “connected” all the time, we’re not always really connecting. For example, when friends hang out but everyone’s on their phones, are they for real spending time together?
Sometimes, it feels like we care more about getting likes or followers than having real conversations. We scroll through Instagram or TikTok, seeing what others are doing, but we don’t always reach out or talk to them. This can make us feel left out or lonely, even if we’re surrounded by online posts and messages.
Also, technology makes it easy to avoid face-to-face conversations. Instead of talking to someone about things, we might just text them or not talk at all. This can make it harder to build strong relationships.
Real friendships take time and effort, and they can’t always be built through texting or FaceTime. But, I don’t think technology is bad. It just depends on how we use it. If we use it to connect in meaningful ways, like having long phone calls, joining group chats to plan real-life meetups, or learning together online, it can help us feel closer, not more alone. Technology can make us feel more alone, but it doesn’t have to.
We just have to remember to look up from our screens sometimes and be present with the people around us.
