Homecoming details announced

Door decorating contest, dress up days to highlight fun week

Homecoming is less than two weeks away and here are the details regarding the BD Spirit Cup competition. The dance itself takes place on Saturday, September 24 at the Westlake Gardens and the theme is Under the Bigtop. Tickets go on sale next Monday and are $12. The homecoming football game this year will be on Friday, September 23 against Lawrence North.

#1  Homecoming Door Decorating Contest

-Impact classes will decorate their doors to promote the theme of Homecoming week!

-The grade level team with the most IMPACT classes participating will receive   200 points  towards their team’s total.

– The 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place IMPACT classes’ doors according to the judges will receive 75, 50, and 25 points towards their grade level team totals respectively.

1st place will win donuts for their IMPACT class!

Door Decorating Guidelines:

-Door decorations can begin to be put up starting Wednesday, September 14, 2016 and must be completed by 4:00 PM on Friday, September 16, 2016.

-Doors will be judged by Wednesday, September 21st.

-Door displays should be based on the Homecoming theme (BD Giants vs LN Wildcats or Under the Roof Top (carnival))

-Both sides of doors can be decorated, as well as the areas around the door and the the entryway.

-Windows on doors should not be covered.  They can be decorated, but not covered to block the view into the room.  Window coverings will be asked to be removed.

-Do not use nails, tacks, or staples on doors.  All adhesives used must be removable.

-Door handles should remain visible and operational

-Nothing that makes noise, requires power cords stretched across entryways, or is a fire hazard should be used

-Any item used on doors that creates a disruption to the learning environment or deemed offensive will be asked to be removed.

-Paper rolls are available in the media center.

#2 Spirit Week Dress Up Days   

During spirit week, IMPACT teachers will count the number of students who participate in the dress up day. The grade level team with the highest percentage of students participating will win 200 points towards their grade level team total.  We entrust in your judgement as to what counts as participation for the spirit days.

The spirit days include:
Monday:  Mix Match Day

Tuesday:  Tie Dye

Wednesday:  Elderly

Thursday:  Class Colors

 Sophomores:  White

 Juniors: Grey

 Seniors: Purple

Friday:  Blackout (wear your homecoming tee)

Students and staff are encouraged to purchase our Homecoming T-shirt sold in the Spirit Shop for $10.00.  These shirts will be worn on Friday for the Blackout Spirit Day.

#3 Homecoming Nominations in IMPACT period

Starting on September 12, students will also be able to find the link for homecoming nominations on @_BDstucrew Twitter page.  This nomination process will close at the end of the school day on  September 15.

The final nomination ballot will be sent out next week in teacher’s weekly IMPACT email.  The students will vote on the final nominees for king/queen and princes/princesses.
