Ben Davis to receive Golden Footballs

NFL honoring more than 2,000 schools nationwide

Ben Davis will receive three Golden Footballs during halftime of Thursday’s girls basketball game against Southport.

The Golden Footballs are being awarded by the NFL to high schools who have alumni or coaches participate in the NFL Super Bowl. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Super Bowl.

Ben Davis will receive footballs for graduates Morten Anderson, Corey Harris and Tandon Doss. Anderson remains the high scoring player in NFL history after a long kicking career that included stops in New Orleans, Atlanta and Minnesota. He played for Atlanta in Super Bowl XXXIII.

Both Harris and Doss played in Super Bowls with Baltimore, Harris in Super Bowl XXXV and Doss in XLVII.

Indiana has 28 high schools who will be receiving Golden Footballs. Ben Davis and Cathedral will recieive the most at three each,

Nationwide, California has more than 400 high schools who will receive Golden Footballs whileTexas is second with 320. More than 2,000 schools will receive Golden Footballs.
