Students interested in pursuing a career in the military have an opportunity to learn about the process this Saturday in the Ben Davis Auditorium.

To help interested students and families learn about the military application process, an informational meeting will be held Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon. Representatives from the Office of Senator Dan Coats, Congressman Todd Rokita, and each of the service academies will provide information and answer questions.

College admission coordinator Anna Coyne reminds students that the United States has five military service academies: The United States Military Academy, The United States Naval Academy, The United States Coast Guard Academy, The United States Merchant Marine Academy and the United States Air Force Academy. These post-graduate institutions are designed for the undergraduate education and training of commissioned officers of the U.S. military.

The application process for these institutions is extensive and competitive. In addition to applying to the institutions, students must be nominated by a congressional representative.  Students who are interested in pursuing admission to a military academy should begin to gather information early.
