Voting for the 2013-14 Student Council officers will be conducted over Google docs and will be sent out via Twitter and through the use of social media.

Voting begins Friday and runs through the end of the school day on Tuesday. Students can vote by going to mbcurl.me/9h1n and casting their vote.

PRESIDENT

Name: Derrick Morris

Why are you running for Student Council?

I’m running for Student Council President to heighten school spirit. 3,000 attend Ben Davis, imagine if even half of those students went to one football game, or one basketball game, or one track meet. We could create and fund so many great opportunities within Wayne Township.

What do you like most about Ben Davis?

Ben Davis is a melting pot of all different types of people. You never feel like an outcast. People connect with you, whether you know it or not.

What do you think the most important role of student government is?

The most important role of student government is to communicate the needs and wants of students to staff. We have such great ideas for prom, spirit weeks, and fundraisers; we just need students to communicate those ideas.

What would your priorities be as student council president?

My priority as Student Council President would be to bring back the student body’s say in what happens around our school. We have needs, we have wants. It’s about time we start communicating those needs and wants with staff.

What do you like most about Ben Davis?

Ben Davis gives lot of opportunity, whether it’s getting out in the community and doing service work or becoming a part of the career center.

What do you think the most important role in student government is?

The most important role of Student Government is hearing everyone’s opinion.  Every voice should count, and decisions need to be made fairly.

What would your priorities be as Student Council President?

As student council president I would allow every voice and opinion to be heard. This isn’t the presidents club, but every single student that has joined student council. Everyone deserves  a say in what we do, from homecoming planning, to fan buses to football games.

Why are you running for Student Council?

My best friend put my name down. I had no choice! I think it will be fun though.

What do you like most about Ben Davis?

The fact that it’s multi-racial and there is a wide variety of students.

What do you think the most important role of student government is?

To make things fun for others and to make the high school experience fun.

What would your priorities be as student council president?

Make school more exciting and to get better DJs for dances.

VICE PRESIDENT

Why are you running for Student Council?

I am running becauee I feel everyone has an opinion but I feel everyone does not get their opion across. I feel student council gives us that opportunity to get their voice heard.

What do you like most about Ben Davis?

The diversity. I feel there are just so many different types of peropel. It’s awesome.

What do you think the most important role of student government is?

To make sure everything is oprganized and to make sure things are running smoothly. The tasks we have to do are being carried out.

What would your priorities be as student council vice-president?

To assist the president and make sure things are being carried out accordingly.

My priorities would be to try to make more opportunities for students to get involved in their school.
