Holidays – we all know them like Halloween, Christmas, and Easter. But what about the odd days like National Grilled Cheese Day?
You see, May is filled to the brim with those days, and I’m going to talk about them. First, let’s get the two big ones out of the way: Mother’s Day and Cinco de Mayo. To be honest, I don’t know if they are holidays or just celebrations of things. I think they’re just a celebration of things.
Mother’s Day celebrates mothers, and Cinco de Mayo celebrates the victory that Mexico had over the Second French Empire.
Now let’s get in the odd days starting with Star Wars Day, which is May the Fourth get it? It’s like May the force be with you, the Star Wars quote, yeah, you get it.
National Hoagie Day, yep, for those who don’t know, a hoagie is a sub sandwich basically, and I believe it’s Australian in origin. National Hoagie Day is celebrated on May Fifth. National laughter also falls on May fourth same as Star Wars Day, but between the two, probably Star Wars Day is celebrated more, if I had to guess.
When I think about that’s sad because more people need to laugh in the world. Now the illness section because there’s a lot in May, like most months, World Asthma Day, Celiac Awareness Day, Better Hearing and Speech Month, and Stroke Awareness Month. I could have sworn that lupus was on the list, but I don’t see it, so Im not sure.
That’s all of them in May. I added better hearing and speech month because I feel like it fits even if it’s not an illness, but it is a disability and I suppose if you have an illness, you live with it would be an disabilty or it could cause a disability
World Migratory Bird Day, which is a group of holidays celebrating birds. Speaking of birds, International Bird Day was April 1. Memorial Day and National Teacher Appreciation Day, I may have forgotten to add these holidays during the major section, so here they are. Does anyone else give gifts to their favorite teacher on National Teacher Appreciation Day or is it just me?
Speaking of school, walk to school week, But I have a feeling this wouldn’t work for the people that don’t live close to school. I would have to cross the highway to get to school so I have a feeling that the other students that live in my neighborhood would have too and that’s not fair. Two more holidays left: Plant a Garden Day, which can just last threw the entire month. Global Love Day, which should be in February, but oh well, I don’t make the rules unless it’s love for the globe, but then why isn’t it in April with Earth Day?
Just Google May holidays and there are countless list of events to celebrate!
