Emily Henry is the bestselling author of two popular books, Beach Read and People We Meet on Vacation. In addition to these books, her newest book, Book Lovers, was released this past May.

This book follows the main character, Nora Stephens, who is a workaholic literary agent. Nora decides to take a vacation with her sister, Libby, where she continuously runs into Charlie Lastra, a book editor from Nora’s home city.

Throughout the story, Nora and Charlie interact in ways that inevitably bring them closer together, straying farther away from their negative first impressions of each other. This book is written almost in a Hallmark movie style, bringing in aspects of a strong female lead who gets the appreciation she deserves from the love interest.

Both Nora and Charlie’s characters experience lots of individual growth through the many realistic conflicts presented by the author. As seen in her other two books, Henry’s ability to drive a plot really shines through in this story as well. The relationships are built in a fun and interesting way as a result of the banter between the characters, which I think is an important part of any rom-com.

In addition to the romance aspect of the book, Henry finds ways to tie in both personal and family issues, which makes the main character more realistic and brings out more emotional aspects.

Book Lovers definitely did not disappoint, and Henry’s ability to balance serious topics with lighthearted romance always makes for an amazing story. Make sure to keep an eye out for Henry’s new book, Happy Place, which is being released in April 2023!
