At first glance, Pearings seems like just another yogurt shop in downtown Indianapolis, but when you take a longer look you start to see the complexity. Located at the intersection of Washington and Meridian, Pearings is in the café heart of downtown.

Walking into Pearings for the first time, I was caught off guard. Not in a bad way, in fact I was rather stunned. Seeing the amazing décor and smelling hot crepes in the air, I was nearly taken off my feet. Then out of nowhere, as if I hadn’t seen him, the cashier asked me if I would like anything.

As I skimmed through the menu, so many things stood out. I could hardly decide. Yogurts of exotic flavors with toppings galore, a waffle iron, crepes, muffins, sandwich wraps and more — how could I ever decide?

After a long thought, I finally decided to get a Romeo and Juliet Crepe, a hot chocolate, a Naked, and two muffins. Luckily, I had come in right before the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, so the wait wasn’t too long.

During my indecisive period, what I found most amazing is that although there was only one worker there — a Ben Davis graduate — he served everyone in a timely manner, including myself. Leaving Pearings, I wasn’t left with a bad thought. It was like the café equivalent to finding a great sustainable shoe with a killer price tag; To.Die.For.

I don’t know when I’ll be back to Pearings or how I’ll get there; all I know is that I will go back.
