MEN’S BASKETBALL

Competing in the Missouri Valley Tournament to determine the automatic bid to the NCAA Championships, Illinois State (27-6, 17-2) defeated Evansville 80-69 in round one and Southern Illinois 63-50 in the semi-finals, but lost 71-51 to Wichita State in the title game. Tony Wills had seven points (2 for 5, 1 for 3, 2 for 2), two rebounds, three assists, one steal, one blocked shot, and one turnover in 29 minutes against the Aces; nine points (3 for 8, 3 for 7, 0 for 0), four rebounds, one assist, two steals, and one turnover in 24 minutes against the Salukis; and one point (0 for 4, 0 for 3, 1 for 2), three rebounds, one assist, one steal, and two turnovers in 32 minutes against the Shockers.

Ohio State (17-14, 7-11) defeated Penn State 71-70 and lost 96-92 to Indiana. Trevor Thompson had 11 points (3 for 5, 0 for 0, 5 for 7), seven rebounds, one assist, one steal, and two turnovers in 24 minutes in the win; and 19 points (6 for 9, 0 for 0, 7 for 8), 11 rebounds, one assist, two blocked shots, and two turnovers in 31 minutes in the loss.

In the first round of the America East Tournament, Vermont (27-5, 16-0) defeated Maine 86-41, Harry “Dre” Wills had 13 points (6 for 9, 0 for 0, 1 for 1), four rebounds, four assists, one steal, and no turnoversin 22 minutes.

Southwestern Illinois (13-17) lost 78-55 to John A. Logan. Naeem Freeman had two rebounds and one turnover in the loss.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

Ancilla (16-3, 9-9) lost 67-62 to Lake Michigan and 63-58 to Muskegon. Shelle Daniels had 15 points (6 for 14, 0 for 2, 3 for 6), seven rebounds, four steals, two blocked shots, and four turnovers against Lake Michigan; and 19 points (6 for 22, 0 for 2, 7 for 13), 14 rebounds, two steals, one blocked shot, and three turnovers against Muskegon. Shae Daniels had three rebounds, two assists, one steal, and two turnovers against Lake Michigan while missing her only shot from the field; and eight points (2 for 11, 0 for 1, 4 for 4), six rebounds, three steals, two blocked shots, and four turnovers against Muskegon.

Kaskaskia (13-14) defeated Lake Land 67-57. Jessie Kee had 10 points (2 for 11, 1 for 5, 5 for 8), seven rebounds, three assists, one steal, two blocked shots, and two turnovers.

Lincoln (14-6, 4-6) lost 84-51 to Lincoln Land and defeated John Wood 70-65. Erynn Young had 10 points (4 for 8, 0 for 1, 2 for 6), four rebounds, two blocked shots, and three turnovers in the loss; and 27 points (12 for 24, 0 for 4, 3 for 3), 12 rebounds, three assists, five steals, three blocked shots, and eight turnovers in the win.

Texas State (16-13, 11-7) lost 62-43 to Louisiana and 61-59 to Louisiana-Monroe. Amber Jones had eight points (3 for 4, 0 for 0, 2 for 3), two rebounds, one steal, and one turnover in 16 minutes against Louisiana; and nine points (4 for 6, 0 for 0, 1 for 2), three rebounds, one assist, and three turnovers against Monroe.

WRESTLING

Competing at the Big Ten Championships, Purdue’s Dylan Lydy lost 10-1 to Wisconsin and 8-0 to Ohio State at 165 pounds.

MEN’S INDOOR TRACK AND FIELD

Wabash’s Dallas Pitts finished second of 22 in the shot put (46-4 ¼) at the North Coast Atlantic Conference Championships.

Marian’s Moussa Conde, competing at the NAIA National Championships, was fifth of 17 in the 60 meter dash (6.89) and sixth of 23 in the 200 meters (21.58).

BASEBALL

Marian (5-5) defeated Tougaloo (MS) 6-0 and 7-1. Cody Turpen was hitless in one official at bat in game one and scored one run. Statistics are not available for game two. Turpen was batting .250 (1 for 4) prior to game two.

SOFTBALL

Eastern Illinois (10-8) lost 8-0 to Lipscomb, won 10-1 against Stony Brook and 15-5 against Valparaiso, and lost 4-0 to Lipscomb. Kayla Bear had two hits, three runs scored, and one stolen base in 12 at bats in the four games and is batting .406 (26 for 64).

Indiana Wesleyan (9-2) defeated Nyak 3-2 and lost 5-4 to Siena Heights. Kaisey Carson had one hit in five at bats and scored one run against Siena Heights. Statistics are not available for the Nyak game. Carson is now batting .622 (23 for 37) without the Nyak statistics.

Jessie Britt is batting .125 (1 for 8) in eight games for Taylor (6-7).

MEN’S TENNIS

Ohio Wesleyan defeated Alma 9-0 and Mount Union 8-1. Jacob Volbers won 5-7, 6-2, (10-8) at No. 5 singles and 8-1 at No. 2 doubles against Alma; and 8-1 at No. 2 doubles against Mount Union.

Manchester lost 8-1 to Alma. Garrett Bear lost 10-1 at No. 5 singles and 8-1 at No. 3 doubles.
