Girls basketball hope to finish strong

The girls basketball season is off to a running start as the team has played 15 games so far. The team holds a record of a 9-6 and look to improve every game by game.

Coach Joe Lentz says the team needs to take it one game at a time. “For the most part we have been getting better during the season.  We have become a better defensive team have shown an improvement on offense,” Lentz said.

The team scoring has been led by Eryn Young who is averaging 14.7 points per game. Their leading rebounder is Shale Daniels at 6.6 per game. The team’s real identity and what really gets them going is their defense.

“We have become a better defensive team have shown an improvement on offense.  We need to develop more consistency and to become a better rebounding team as we go into the sectional,” Lentz said. But, defense for coach Lentz has been the focal point all season long.

The girls basketball team is getting ready for the sectional, which the team will host. Coach Lentz knows that it would be big for the Ben Davis girls’ basketball team to pull out a win in sectionals. And then move on to the regional round which would be played at Decatur high school.

“It would be great to win and move on to the regional at Decatur,” Lentz said.

The girls are close to getting to double digits wins again this season as Coach Lentz will improve on his coaching record. The girls basketball season is going strong as they are motivated and ready for to make a deep run. As long as the team takes it a game by game the basketball team looks to be strong and in way to make this season one to remember.
