Have you heard that each state has some strange laws no one talks about very often?

It’s true.

Some of these might shock you, even the Indiana ones might be surprising.

  • In France, it is illegal to name a pig Napoleon
  • In Alabama, it is illegal for a driver to be blindfolded while driving.
  • In Ohio, it is against state law to get a fish drunk.
  • In Miami, Florida, it is illegal to skateboard in a police station.
  • In Florida, unmarried women who parachute on Sundays can be jailed.

Indiana:

  • It is against the law to pass a horse on the street
  • One may only throw a stone at a bird in self defense
  • No one may spit on the sidewalk
  • Within four hours of eating garlic, a person may not enter a movie house, theatre, or ride a public streetcar
  • It is illegal for barbers to threaten to cut off kid’s ears
  • It is forbidden to eat watermelon in the park
  • Baths may not be taken between the months of October and March
  • One may not sniff glue

Obviously, these crazy laws aren’t very important. Some of them are broken every day in Indiana. It makes us wonder why they even became a law.
